Art I |
Students use a textbook to learn basic vocabulary and concepts in art. Students create art projects that determine their knowledge and understanding of a variety of media and art techniques. Sketchbooks assignments are given weekly to reinforce drawing skills. Drawing is the main focus of Art I in that it is the basis for all other art fields. | | |

Art II |
Students continue their study of art media and techniques with emphasis in drawing and basic design skills. Students study art history styles and various artists in depth. Sketchbook assignments reinforce student’s art history knowledge and understanding. Painting and ceramics are introduced but the main focus is advanced drawing skills. | |

Art III |
Students begin an in-depth understanding of three-dimensional art. Students continue drawing skills but also construct and create sculptures. Student must rely on knowledge gained in previous art courses to achieve successful 3-D art projects. Sketchbook assignments focus on senses and feelings and problem solving. Art III is a course that must be taken consecutively with AP Studio Art. | | |

Art IV |
Students pursue an in-depth study of drawing. Each student pursues independent study of an in-depth drawing skill. Students are assigned various sketchbook assignments needed to complete a portfolio for college review. Students take slides and prepare digital portfolios as well. Art IV is a course that must be taken consecutively with AP Studio Art. | |

AP Art |
Students who are highly motivated and wish to do college-level work are candidates for the AP Studio Art class. Students must complete forty finished and professional level art works. Students may take 2-D Design, 3-D Design, or Drawing AP courses. Each course is broken into three areas of art study. Students must be teacher nominated and demonstrate the ability to budget their time and create master art works. Students must have a schedule and track of study that allows them to take 2-art courses per school year.
Cost of the course includes additional art supplies needed, slide fees, and the cost of the AP course as defined by the state and AP board.
