2009-2010 Texas Minimum State Vaccine Requirements for Students
The Stamford Health Department will be coming to the Hawley Church of Christ on Monday, September 20th from 10:00 - 11:30 AM and 1:00- 3:00 PM.

The Abilene Health Department (850 N. 6th) has their clinics every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday from 9 AM-4 PM. The first Tuesday of the month their hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM. 325-692-5600

Also the Care Van for Children will be at the Medical Care Mission (1857 Pine St.) on Thursday, September 2nd from 5 PM to 7 PM.(www.carevan.org)

Medications at School
Medication Permission Slip
1. All Medications given must be in original container. This includes both prescription and over-the-counter medications. The medication has to be FDA approved with dosage information clearly marked on container. MUST BE AGE APPROPRIATE. IF UNDER 12 YEARS OF AGE I MUST HAVE A DOCTERS NOTE TO GIVE ADULT MEDICATION.
2. All medication must be accompanied by a dated permission slip signed by the parent/legal guardian.
3. The over the counter meds may not be given more than three consecutive days without a physician's order to do so.
4. Medications purchased in a foreign country(for example: Mexico) cannot be given.
5. NO MEDICATIONS ARE SUPPLIED BY THE SCHOOL. (INCLUING COUGH DROPS)
School Health Policies (PG. 40 of Handbook)
HEAD LICE:
No child may remain in school with head lice or nits. ALL LICE AND ALL NITS, both live and dead, must be removed from hair before your child will be allowed to return to school.
Child must be checked by school nurse before returning to class.

CHILD WITH TEMPERATURE:
Student must be completely fever free for 24 hours(without giving Tylenol)to be able to return to school.

CHILD WITH VOMITING:
To prevent spread of gastrointestinal virus, children should be free from vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school.

PINKEYE:
Student with Pinkeye must have and ophthalmic antibiotic applied to eyes for 24 hours before returning to school.Eyes should be free from matting.

These requirements help keep other parents from haveing to miss work and other students from having to miss school.
