Hawley Independent School District is committed to
meeting the needs of all students. In order to meet the needs of gifted students, HISD works to identify children who
demonstrate high intellectual ability, creativity, and task
commitment. The District has a flexible system of viable program options which provides a learning continuum that reinforces the strengths, needs, and interests of gifted students.

Formal screening of students for possible participation in
the Gifted Program is conducted in the Spring of each school year.

Nominations may be submitted to the campus teacher, counselor,
or principal through out the year.

Testing will consist of at least the following three criteria a Cognitive Abilities test, a nonverbal ability indicator and an indicator of creativity.
